Are remakes better than classics?

Every now and then their comes a movie which is remade for the convenience of offering a new look to the movie. Some classics remade into even better classics and then movies that loose their essential essence. Movies are remade by different director or companies simply because they want to show a better or different look to the film.

The Batman movies have been around for a while. They have remakes of many different actors playing the frivolous villain, The Joker. Actors such as Jack Nicholson, Jim Carrey, and late actor Heath Ledger. In every film the villain only got better in time. The played an insane mane who was careless and cruel, yet each actor grasped his characteristic in a very different looney view.

The latest remake of The Batman movie, Heath Ledger served to be the best joker, villain, by far. Heath Ledger grasped the idea of bringing fear and uncomfort to each and everyone of the audience members. He really portrayed the role. The graphics in the movie were outstanding and really showed the advancement of technology and animation. Christopher Nolan did a great job at taking a well loved action superhero and turning into something so mysterious and uprising.

"Anyone who has seen "The Dark Knight" will testify to Ledger's disturbing lip-licking, cold and empty gaze, and the eruptions of bellowing laughter that could frighten even the most able-bodied men. His Joker is an apathetic monster who would never conform to the standards of society. His power is achieved through the disruption of balance and his ability to dismantle the world's sense of security."
Many people can agree that no joker was played better than Heath Ledger. He was a amazing actor that played  a amazing role. Remakes all depend on how the actors fulfill the role. If you have great actors, than the movie will most definitely be a success.

Life of Pi

Have you ever seen a movie that changed your life? A movie that made you see everything from a whole new perspective. Viewers are raving about The Life of Pi. It's an inspiring tale of a boy who against all odds kept his faith alive in order to survive. Pi, the main character, grew up in India with his mother, father, and brother in a peaceful and happy life. His father owned a zoo, where Pi learned his love for animals. Ever since he was young, Pi took a liking to every religion he came across. His loved ones would find his love for every God comical, but to Pi, there was one God. There was one God and many different religions. He's always been a spiritual and soulful boy who saw love in everyone and everything he encountered.
After losing his mother, father, and brother to a sinking ship, Pi set out on a lifeboat to find land. While on the boat, Pi discovers that he is stranded with a tiger named Richard Parker. When Pi was younger, he had an encounter with the tiger that didn't go so well. He wanted to prove to his brother that all living creatures have souls, but unfortunately he was proven wrong when his father made him watch while the tiger killed a goat and ate it. This was a huge deal in Pi's life so naturally, when he realized he was stranded with the tiger on a small life boat in the middle of the ocean, he panicked.
The story of Pi and Richard Parker is a beautiful and inspiring story of how they learned to respect and love one another on their journey to safety. It's a story of faith and hope that will change your life. It's a story about how against all odds, faith in God will see you through. I highly recommend watching The Life of Pi to everyone and anyone who's interested. It definitely does change your life and your perspective on faith.

Movie 43

My friend and I decided to watch a movie after before going to a friends house. We weren't sure as to what movie to watch, so we looked through the movie app to figure out. Movie 43 had just came out and it was the next movie. We decided to watch it because the trailers made it seem like it would be a funny movie to watch.

The movie started out with Dennis Quaid trying to pitch a movie to a director. He was explaining that the movie would be based on a series of short stories. Already 2 minutes into the movie I was bored. The acting was horrible and thats a shame for Dennis Quaid. He went on explaining his first short story, which was honestly the beginning to disgusting scenes. Kate Winslet, known for her big role in Titanic just scooped down to a mediocre level. The story was about a blind date in which the guy had male parts on his neck. I honestly thought it was the most disgusting thing. It was wasn't really humorous to me. There wasn't many people in the theater and I didn't hear much laughter either.

The movie continued on showing disturbing short stories that really made no sense. They had parents that were home schooling their child. That doesn't sound bad until you saw how they homeschooled the boy. They basically did everything that would happen in high school from parties, first kiss, bullies, to many more things. It was actually disturbing to watch. There were scenes were you saw a lot of body parts that were not normal. There was also scenarios that would never happen in real life. Actually all of them would never happen. I understand that its suppose to be "comedy", but if I feel like I'm forcing myself to laugh, then it is no where close to comedy.

To me, these stories had no backbone. There was no connection in any of the stories. The acting was as well just plain bad. I felt as if I was watching a movie that a pervert made up. I honestly don't understand how some great actors would agree to be in such a bad movie. Most parts were no where close to being funny that I felt awkward myself. Overall, this movie was a no star rating. I would not watch it again or recommend it to anyone.

Bang Bang

Not all movies are Fiction, some are based on a true story or events. I watched Gangster Squad which was based on true events that happened in California. Back in the 1930's the west coast was run by famous gangster Bugsy Siegel. "Born Benjamin Siegel, on February 28, 1906, in Brooklyn, New York." He was part of the "Bugs-Meyer Gang, which was run by Meyer Lansky and Bugsy. They both contributed a lot to California's dangerous history.

Throughout the movie, the audience was able to see various scenarios of events that would happen in California. Not all were 100% true, but it gave you a idea of what it might be like to live during that time. It shows how corrupt the Police and government was. Many of them would do anything for money and their lives. Gangsters were so wealthy and powerful, that doing them wrong was feared. Gangsters only cared about making it on top, and if it meant killing innocent people, then it would be done.

Gangsters still exist today, but I would refer to them as drug traffickers. These people are still corrupting the system in many different countries, just for power and wealth. The horrible thing about it, is that our government is not something we can trust. It amazes me to see what people are capable of doing for something that can take not only their own life but someone else's.

MAMA

One of the most talked about movies on my timeline was "MAMA". The story of two girls that somehow survived in the woods for five years with no one to take care of them. Before the movie came  out in theatre's, I was very excited to watch it. I love scary movies and not many movies have been out that have actually been "scary". For example: "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D", one the most dumbest movies I have ever seen. Trailers are great way of showing the public what you're getting yourself into. They reel you in and make you want to spend your money on a worthless movie. So, you should always make sure you research enough on the movie before spending your precious money on it.

I waited for a couple days after MAMA came out. I wanted some feedback to see if it was worth it. Many of my friends and co-workers told me it was a great movie. The next day I watched with my sister and friend at Potomac Yards in Alexandria. The movie theatre was big and seemed nice , so I was hoping for a good experience. As I walk into the theatre, I was nothing but disappointed. It just boggles my mind when the room has four rows at the top open and four at the bottom. I don't know about everyone else, but I hate sitting in the front and hate being squished next to people. Sitting in the front just hurts my eyes and neck, given you have to be looking up the entire time. Also sitting next to people just honestly bothers me. I don't like to hear people chew, drink, and talk. I didn't pay for that "type" of surround sound. I don't understand why they would squish so many people in to a tiny room and give them limited options. I watched the movie two days after it released, so it wasn't that old.

Once all the trailers were done playing, the lights went down and it was time to watch the movie. You could tell that everyone was nervous and scared as they were getting themselves "comfy" in their chairs. The movie started out interesting, grabbing everyones attention. The one thing i loved about this movie, is that it kept pulling you in, and when you were in good enough "boom" something pops up and you get so scared. It was like a scary mystery you don't want to solve. The two little girls were amazing actors. They were extremely convincing throughout the whole movie. At some point they frightened me and not just MAMA. The whole story was a good concept. I was surprised to see that the people around me were not talking. Im sure they were so frightened that they had nothing to say.

Overall the movie was good. It was worth spending my money on. I wouldn't say I'd watch it again at the movies, but I would watch it again if it came out on redbox. Knowing the producer was Guillermo del Toro, it was bound to be a good movie. He's known for his scary movies like: Julia's eyes and The devils backbone. So If you're a fan of him, this is a great movie to watch.

Movie Theatre Experience

I always loved going to the movies. I know I'm not alone because many people all over the world flock to the movies every weekend. Whether you like action packed thrillers or historical movies, we can all agree that the movie theater experience sets it all aside. It could be the huge screen, the darkness, or the perfect surround system that brings the magic to life.
The first time films were ever shown in theatre's, it was for the ground breaking experience of seeing anything in a larger than life and moving format. People were in awe of the incredible new technology that was quickly spreading. In the past century, the movie going experience has evolved time and time again. What once was silent and black and white, is now 3 dimensional with state of the art graphics and sound.
I want to create an open forum to discuss the experience of going to the movies and why some people love it and some people just wait until its on red-box.
