Are remakes better than classics?

Every now and then their comes a movie which is remade for the convenience of offering a new look to the movie. Some classics remade into even better classics and then movies that loose their essential essence. Movies are remade by different director or companies simply because they want to show a better or different look to the film.

The Batman movies have been around for a while. They have remakes of many different actors playing the frivolous villain, The Joker. Actors such as Jack Nicholson, Jim Carrey, and late actor Heath Ledger. In every film the villain only got better in time. The played an insane mane who was careless and cruel, yet each actor grasped his characteristic in a very different looney view.

The latest remake of The Batman movie, Heath Ledger served to be the best joker, villain, by far. Heath Ledger grasped the idea of bringing fear and uncomfort to each and everyone of the audience members. He really portrayed the role. The graphics in the movie were outstanding and really showed the advancement of technology and animation. Christopher Nolan did a great job at taking a well loved action superhero and turning into something so mysterious and uprising.

"Anyone who has seen "The Dark Knight" will testify to Ledger's disturbing lip-licking, cold and empty gaze, and the eruptions of bellowing laughter that could frighten even the most able-bodied men. His Joker is an apathetic monster who would never conform to the standards of society. His power is achieved through the disruption of balance and his ability to dismantle the world's sense of security."
Many people can agree that no joker was played better than Heath Ledger. He was a amazing actor that played  a amazing role. Remakes all depend on how the actors fulfill the role. If you have great actors, than the movie will most definitely be a success.

  1. Actually, was it the latest Batman in which Heath Ledger was The Joker? I think it was the latest incarnation of the series, but a few more installments have come out since with other villains.

Can you expand on your discussion from paragraph 1: namely, how does a classic be remade into another classic? Can you give specific examples, or was Batman an example of that?

Think about the new Oz movie that's coming out, a definite remake of the Wizard of Oz (with about 80 years between versions). What can the industry do differently with technology that can make the movies so different? I agree--acting has a lot to do with it, too. So show us with some detail how Ledger's Joker was better than Nicholson's or Carey's.

  2. I totally agree with you when you say that the actor make the movie either great or average. For example, I will always say the the first Spider-Man is better the the remake of the amazing Spider-Man. The time frame in which they both came out too fast for people to want mother one. I also like the recent batman with Heath ledger, he was great in the movie.
